40-year-old Derrick Lamont Carter faces child abuse and vandalism charges after he felt his daughter was taking too long to get ready for work and was being ‘smart’ with him. He is alleged to have pulled back her wig and ripped off her faux eyelashes during a physical assault on her. The child’s mother was on the phone and overheard much of the assault.
Court documents show that on May 27th, Derrick Lamont Carter was upset with his 17-year-old daughter, as he felt she was taking too long to get ready for work. He felt he was being disrespected and struck her on the left side of her face with the backside of his hand, causing some injury to her cheek. The victim says he then pulled her wig back and ripped off her faux eyelashes. During the scuffle, he also threw her iPhone 11 against the wall, shattering it. The victim called her mother during the assault, who says she overheard the father calling the child “a bitch” several times during the assault while she was screaming for him to get off of her.
Warrants were issued for his arrest, and Derrick Lamont Carter was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail on 06/02. He is charged with child abuse and vandalism and is free on a $2,500 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court later this month.
