39-year-old Jennifer Johnson was waiting outside when police arrived to take her into custody for domestic assault Tuesday Night. She and her boyfriend were grappling beside the bed when she scratched his face, and he locked himself in the bathroom where he called police to get assistance to prevent further assault.
Police arrived at the couple’s Bellevue apartment just before midnight Tuesday, after Michael Hence called police while locked behind two bathroom doors, to ask for assistance as his girlfriend was attempting to assault him. An arrest warrant alleges the two were in a verbal argument that turned physical and led to the pair grappling beside the bed in their bedroom. Both had been drinking, though officers noted that she was much more intoxicated than he appeared to be.
Michael says the grappling was just him attempting to keep her from assaulting him, but at some point, she scratched his face. He then was able to extricate himself from the situation and fled to a bathroom, where he locked both doors, even though she continued to beat on the doors, demanding to be let in. It was at that point he called police for assistance.
Police arrived to find Jennifer Johnson waiting outside the apartment, and was taken into custody with any incident. Officers observed the scratch on Hence’s face, however, Jennifer said no physical altercation happened. Mr. Hence stated he would not participate in prosecution. Due to state domestic violence laws when there as an injury, officers prosecuted on his behalf. Jennifer Johnson was transported to the Metro Nashville Jail, where she was charged with domestic assault. She is free on a $1,000 cash bond.
