21-year-old Mya Peterson, who has over 100,000 followers on TikTok (@that_mixeddchickk) where she’s gone viral from dancing in her Hooters Girl work uniform, was found asleep behind the wheel early Friday morning, heavily intoxicated after stopping at a local bar to have “four or five shots” after work. Police boxed in her car, shook her car, even used an airhorn to attempt to wake her.
Goodlettsville Police received calls about a white Chrysler 300 stopped in the middle of oncoming traffic, facing the wrong way at 2:30 a.m. Friday. Officers located Mya Peterson asleep behind the wheel, and after being unable to awaken her, used their vehicles to box in her vehicle for everyone’s safety. After knocking on the window didn’t work, officers used an air horn from a patrol vehicle in an attempt to wake her, while shaking her vehicle rigorously.
Peters slowly began to awaken, then suddenly turned the wheel and slammed on the gas in an attempt to drive away, seeming to not notice any of the officers or vehicles which were surrounding her. Eventually, she became more aware of her surroundings and rolled down her window to see what the officers needed. At that point, they were able to open the door and remove her from the vehicle and secure it. She refused all medical assistance at the scene, demanding she was fine.
She explained that she had left Hooters, where she worked, around 11 p.m. and advised she went to the Bailey’s building where she drank “four or five” shots, after which was dropping someone off and then heading home. Police say she failed every field sobriety test given, including the walk-and-turn, during which she would take a single step, turn around and look at the officer, then turn back around and continue to take another. She initially agreed to take a breathalyzer test, but once at the station, she refused to go through with it.
Mya Rashawn Peterson, 21, was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail at 4:17 a.m. Friday, charged with driving under the influence and violation of the implied consent law. She is free on pre-trial release.
