22-year-old Ronan John Callinan and 23-year-old Conor Joseph Lynch were reported to be causing disturbances on the streets of downtown Nashville, and officers eventually were able to catch up with them at which time it was obvious they were heavenly intoxicated. Callinan resisted detainment and arrest, flailed on the ground, attempted to kick an officer in the head, and continued to spit toward officers and in the patrol car. The pair was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail.

COMPLAINT:
2021-0467387
ARREST WARRANT / AFFIDAVIT:
CALLINAN: Officers responded to a call for two disorderly individuals at the intersection of Rep. John Lewis Way S and Demonbreun St. The description provided to responding officers by dispatch was two white males in their early 20s, one wearing a green shirt and shorts and one wearing no shirt and black shorts. Officers arrived on the scene and located two individuals matching that description, the defendant was the one with no shirt on and black shorts.

Once officers made contact with the individuals, officers observed the defendant to have bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech, and difficulty standing. Officers detained the defendant after observing his noncooperation. The defendant resisted detainment and then resisted arrest when officers attempted to take the defendant to the marked patrol car to place him inside he resisted by trying to get away from officers, refusing to get into the patrol car by wedging himself against the doorframe and laying on the ground refusing to get up.

As officers were attempting to gain control of the suspect to place him into the back of the patrol car the defendant attempted to knee the arresting officer in the back and attempted to kick the arresting officer in the back of the head. The defendant was unsuccessful in his attempts to do so. Once officers placed the defendant into the back seat of the patrol car the defendant began to spit in the car. The defendant refused multiple warnings to stop spitting.

The defendant also removed a blue medical mask placed on him by officers to prevent the spitting so that he could continue to spit. Additionally, the defendant made violent threats against the arresting/transporting officer stating he wanted to stab the officer in the neck. Body Worn Camera and In-Car Camera footage is available of the incident.
