52-year-old Memphis magnate Stephen Tanzer was charged with DUI Wednesday night when he was found asleep behind the wheel of his running Range Rover just before 8 PM, which was parked on a sidewalk in downtown Nashville. He reportedly reeked of alcohol and admitted to drinking earlier. A nearly empty bottle of Blue Note Bourbon was located in the vehicle. Tanzer is free on pre-trial release.

| On October 27, 2021, at 1957 hours, Officer Charles Large was on patrol when he observed a 2019 Range Rover on the sidewalk on 8th Ave South near Demonbreun Street in Nashville Davidson County, Tennessee. When Officer Large approached the vehicle he observed the defendant Stephen Tanzer in the driver seat of the vehicle asleep at the wheel. The Range Rover was running and in the parked position. Officer Large stated he smelled alcohol. Your affiant was called to the scene and spoke with Mr. Tanzer. Your affiant smelled an odor of alcohol emitting from Mr. Tanzer’s expelled breath. Mr. Tanzer stated he consumed alcohol 4 hours prior. Mr. Tanzer would not perform Standard Field Sobriety Tasks. An inventory search of Mr. Tanzer’s vehicle yielded a nearly empty bottle of Blue Note Bourbon Whisky which was placed in the holder behind the front passenger seat. Mr. Tanzer was informed of the Tennessee Implied Consent Advisement and stated he was not going to consent. He was read the advisement twice. |
