Metro Police say 50-year-old Jamil Sameen picked up a kitchen chair and struck his wife in the back with it, knocking her down, and then began to strangle her when attempted to call 911. He reportedly then took cellphone video of the disarray of the home from the multiple assaults, and told her if she told the police he would show them the video and blame her and have the children taken away. He is charged with two felony accounts of aggravated assault (deadly weapon & strangulation), and immediately posted a $30,000 bond. Samil is an employee of the Metro Nashville Government, as a Program Supervisor with the Nashville Public Library.

| The defendant and victim are husband and wife. Officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at 3735 Faulkner Dr. Officers made contact with the victim who stated she had been in an argument with the defendant and the defendant had then grabbed her arm bruising her. The victim stated she attempted to get away from the defendant and the defendant picked up a kitchen chair and threw it at the victim striking her in the back and head and knocking her down. The victim stated she told the defendant she was calling the police and the defendant began to choke her. The victim stated the defendant used his hands to strangle her and she did not lose consciousness. The victim stated the defendant then let her up and took cell phone footage of the broken chairs and disarray of the home before telling her if she called the police he would blame her and take the children away. Officers observed bruising to the victim’s right arm, upper chest, and throat and scratches on the victim’s throat. |
