Just hours after Dylan Sanford was given custody of his child, the child’s mother and her brother, 36-year-old David Larue, brutally attacked Sanford and stole the child, ripping it from the arms of the father, causing the child to become injured when it fell to the ground. Court records allege LaRue then beat Sanford unconscious and choke him from behind. David LaRue was charged with felony aggravated assault – strangulation and felony child abuse. He is free on a $30,000 bond. The sister, Christina Jakes, was being booked into the Metro Jail early Monday morning. Her charges were not yet available.

| PD responded to 5417 Eatons Creek Rd. regarding a domestic incident. victim 1 (Mr. Sanford) and subject 1 (Ms. Jakes) are currently engaged and reside at this location together. Mr. Sanford and Ms. Jakes have an 18-month-old child together (victim 2). Mr. Sanford stated to PD that he and his son returned home to this address around 1630 hours on 10/15/2021 from the grocery store. Mr. Sanford stated that shortly after their arrival, Ms. Jakes, along with her brother (David Larue) and her mother (Ruth Larue), arrived at this location as well. Mr. Sanford stated that he and his wife had been in an argument the previous day regarding relationship issues and she had left the location the night prior on 10/14/2021. Mr. Sanford stated that he was holding their son in his arms when they all arrived at this location. Mr. Sanford stated that when they arrived, Ms. Jakes and Mr. Larue each grabbed ahold of one of his arms and ripped them away from his body, resulting in his son falling to the ground. Mr. Sanford stated that Ms. Jakes ripped his arms that was holding their son, causing the child to obtain bodily injury when falling to the ground. Mr. Sanford stated that Mr. Larue told Ms. Jakes to pick up the baby and he proceeded to punch Mr. Sanford in the face with his right fist. Mr. Sanford stated that he attempted to strike Mr. Larue back to defend himself, however Mr. Larue was able to tackle him to the ground. Mr. Sanford stated that Mr. Larue then began to choke him from behind. Mr. Sanford stated he began begging him to stop and told him he couldn’t breathe. Mr. Sanford stated he began to lose his vision and blacked out shortly after. Mr. Sanford advised he was unsure how long he was unconscious for. He stated that when he regained consciousness, all the parties involved were in their vehicle and leaving the location with his son. Mr. Sanford had visible redness and swelling to his left eye and multiple scratches to the back of his neck consistent with bening punched in the face and choked from behind. Mr. Sanford also stated that he had surgery on his left foot and as a result of this incident, he reinjured it, causing it to have severe swelling/bruising. Police were unable to make contact with any other parties involved. The victim declined medical treatment. |
