Metro Nashville Police say highly intoxicated 30-year-old William Spielberg hid in the stairwell at Lucky Bastard Saloon in downtown Nashville, and when an employee was walking up the stairwell just before closing early Monday morning, Spielberg unleashed the spray of the extinguisher onto the employee. Spielberg was charged with public intoxication and booked into the Metro Nashville Jail.
ARREST WARRANT / AFFIDAVIT:
POLICE WERE DISPATCHED TO LUCKY BASTARD LOCATED AT 408 BROADWAY. SECURITY AT THE LOCATION STATED THAT SOMEONE WENT INTO THE EMPLOYEE STAIRWELL WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND HID. WHILE ONE OF THE EMPLOYEES WAS WALKING UP THE STAIRWELL THIS SUBJECT SPRAYED THE EMPLOYEE WITH THIS FIRE EXTINGUISHER.
THIS WAS SUBJECT WAS IDENTIFIED AS WILLIAM SPIELBERG, THE DEFENDANT. SECURITY AT THE LOCATION SHOWED RESPONDING OFFICERS VIDEO FOOTAGE OF THIS ACT. THE DEFENDANT COULD EASILY BE IDENTIFIED IN THE VIDEO BY THE CLOTHES THAT THEY WERE WEARING AS WELL AS THE QUALITY OF THE VIDEO FOOTAGE. WHEN OFFICERS ENCOUNTERED THE DEFENDANT HE HAD AN APPARENT ODOR OF ALCOHOL AND SLURRED SPEECH, HE ALSO STATED THAT HE DID NOT SPRAY ANYONE WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND WAS CONFUSED AS TO WHY HE WAS BEING TAKEN INTO POLICE CUSTODY.
THE DEFENDANT WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY FOR PUBLIC INTOXICATION DUE TO BEING INTOXICATED AND BEING A DANGER TO OTHERS.
