25-year-old Cardiovascular ICU Travel Nurse Jazmen Flowers was found drunk and asleep behind the wheel of her vehicle at a Krystal drive-thru in the early hours of Saturday morning. Police say they approached her vehicle in the line after being notified her the situation, and she ‘lurched’ the vehicle several feet forward as they woke her. She reportedly reeked of alcohol and admitted to drinking vodka & cranberry drinks earlier in the evening. She was charged with DUI and transported to booking, where she blew a 0.17 BAC just over double the legal limit. She is free on pre-trial release.

COMPLAINT:
2021-0585757
ARREST WARRANT / AFFIDAVIT:
I responded to 401 S Cartwright Street (Krystal) after receiving a report of a black female that was passed out in the driver seat of a black pickup truck in the drive-through at that location. On arrival, I located the vehicle in the described location and approached. On contact, I observed that the driver, the defendant, was indeed sleeping. I noted that the vehicle was running and was in drive.

I woke the defendant and ordered her to put the vehicle in park. At that time, the defendant released the brake and the vehicle lurched forward 2-3 feet before she was able to regain control. I then repeated the order to put the vehicle in park several times before she was able to do so successfully. I then ordered her out of the vehicle. She was unsteady while doing so.

I then spoke with the defendant. I observed that she was unsteady on her feet, had bloodshot eyes with highly dilated pupils, had slurred speech, and had an obvious odor of alcohol on her expelled breath. At this time, I advised her of her Miranda Rights and she indicated that she understood them and that she was willing to answer questions.

I then asked her if she had had any alcohol. She stated she’d consumed 2 vodka and cranberry mixed drinks earlier in the evening. I then requested that she perform SFSTs and she complied. She performed poorly. I observed 6 of 6 clues on HGN as well as vertical nystagmus, 5 of 8 clues on WAT, and 0 of 4 clues on OLS.

Due to the defendant showing multiple signs of intoxication, her poor performance on SFSTs, and her willingly admitting to consuming alcohol, it was determined that the defendant was in physical control of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. I then placed her in custody for DUI 1st Offense. I then requested consent for a breath test. She did consent. Breath test results show a BAC of 0.17.

You could drive up to Krystal’s sober, get drunk , pass out, and wake up sober again before your food is ready.
