36-year-old tourist Roy Barnett, of Mississippi, was drinking at a bar inside the Nashville International Airport when he became loud and unruly, and his bartender cut him off before he became more intoxicated. Barnett began throwing change at the bartender, and causing a general disturbance, and had to be escorted from the bar by airport police. He was given the opportunity to leave the property but said he wasn’t paying for a cab, so he was taken into custody, charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct. Barnett is free on pre-trial release.

| On 11/14/2021 at 1916 hours, Airport Police were dispatched to the Tootsies bar near gate C-4, for two passengers yelling and cussing at the bartender. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the male later identified as Roy Michael Barnett. Barnett was escorted out of the bar and was raising his voice and drawing attention from the other passengers and interrupting the flow of business on the concourse and bar. Officers spoke to the Tootsies bartender who advised that the two individuals were cut off for being too intoxicated and they began throwing change at him. Barnett had an alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath, a slight slurred speech, and red glassy eyes. Barnett was escorted to the non-secure side for being too intoxicated to fly admitting to drinking three alcoholic beverages. A taxi was requested to the departures level to take Barnett off airport property. Barnett refused to leave the airport property advising that he’s not paying for a taxi. Barnett was curbside and continued to be loud around passengers being dropped off and was causing a public annoyance. Since Barnett continued to be irate loud and non-compliant, was charged with Disorderly Conduct T.C.A 39-17-305 and Public Intoxication T.C.A 39-17-310. |
