41-year-old Wafa Taha Dardas was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail after her husband, Husni Hassan, asked her if she was going to do his laundry that particular day. She told him she was not going to do his laundry, at which point he gathered his belonging and attempted to leave. On his way out the door, she reportedly attacked him with a spoon, leaving multiple visible injuries on his neck and hand. She is free on a $1,500 bond, charged with domestic assault. NOTE: DCSO Failed to follow their own policy and required this defendant to remove her hijab for a booking photo, and it was then released to the media. We have blurred parts, in accordance with the policy.
In July of 2020 her husband, Husni, was arrested and charged with domestic assault after reportedly punching her in the face and scratching her before throwing her against a wall and taking her passport and marriage documents in an attempt to prevent her from leaving him. She failed to prosecute in that case when it came time for court.

| The defendant above and her husband/victim got into a verbal altercation that escalated to her grabbing a spoon out of the kitchen and attacking him, causing marks, scrapes about his right neck area and his right hand. Both parties stated that the argument was over whether or not the defendant was going to do his laundry today. When the defendant stated she was not, the victim gathered his belongings and attempted to leave. On his way out of the front door he was attacked by her and the spoon. Injuries were visible but he declined medical assistance. Defendant was found to be the primary aggressor. |

Despite the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office official policy that states hijabs do not have to be removed, they did require Wafa Dardas to remove hers for this mugshot. When asked about the policy violation, they admitted to the mistake and promised to remind booking staff of their own policy.
