“I’m lit… I know I’m drunk… give me a sec, I’m a little tipsy…” are all things that police say 24-year-old Mvuezolo Rose Mapangala said after she was found in a crashed vehicle on Edmonson Pike. A witness to the crash, who pulled her from the wreckage, says she also offered him $300 to go on about his day and “let her go”. Court records show she performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was transported to booking where she was charged with DUI and violation of the implied consent law. She is free on a $3,000 bond.

| On 11/27/2021 officers were dispatched to 4981 Edmondson pike for a motor vehicle accident. upon arrival, officers were advised by Eladio Hernandez (witness) that he pulled the above-listed defendant out of the vehicle. Mr. Hernandez advised that the defendant admitted to being intoxicated to him, and attempted to bribe him with $300 to let her go. While talking with the defendant, officers noticed the smell of alcohol on her breathe, that the defendant was unsteady on her feet, slurred her words, had glassy and blurry eyes, and had lost motor functions. The defendant consented to complete SFSTs. The defendant was unable to complete horizontal gaze nystagmus and would constantly move her head. The defendant had obvious nystagmus while she was taking the test. For the walk and turn, the defendant could not keep her balance, stepped off line, and had an improper turn. For the one-leg stand, the defendant kept her foot down the entire time. The defendant made comments to the officer regarding her level of intoxication, and told officers that she was “lit”, that she “knew she was drunk”, and “that you will have to give me a sec, I’m a little tipsy.” The defendant refused to take a breathalyzer and refused to get a blood draw. |
