29-year-old Richard Hall is charged with the domestic assault of his boyfriend after police say he demanded the victim get ready to meet a friend, and the victim refused, saying he didn’t feel well. The couple, who was staying at a Goodlettsville hotel, had prior domestic disturbances, and as the victim attempted to call to report the current situation using code words, Hall reportedly took the phone from him, and threw him across the bed, resulting in bodily injury. Hall is charged with interfering with an emergency call and domestic assault, and is jailed in lieu of a $2,000 bond.

| On 12/14/2021 at approximately 2008 hours, officers responded to 202 Northgate (Wingate by Wyndham Goodlettsville) for a possible domestic. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim Joshua Oatsvall who stated the defendant (his boyfriend) Richard Hall assaulted him. The victim stated that the defendant woke him up and told him to get dressed to meet a friend downstairs. The victim stated he told the defendant he did not feel well and was not going anywhere. The victim stated the defendant grabbed him by the throat and started yelling at him telling him to get dressed. The victim stated he is actively in a domestic violence program due to previous situations between him and the defendant. The victim stated he grabbed his phone to call his domestic violence counselor using code words, designed for him to be able to safely communicate he is in a current domestic violence situation. The defendant then took the victim’s phone from him to prevent him from making the emergency call. The victim then attempted to use the hotel phone and the defendant grabbed him and threw him across the bed. Officers observed visible scratches and marks in the shape of hands on the victim’s neck consistent with the narrative the victim provided. The defendant then left the scene and was found walking in front of 307 Long Hollow Pike where he was taken into custody. |
