23-year-old Montreal Bright walked into his workplace, the Donelson Burger King, and immediately confronts another employee, Michael Crowley, screaming “Where’s my bread?” He then forces Crowley into the office and gunpoint and pistol-whips him across the back, causing severe injuries to his spinal column. Bright takes his phone and car keys before fleeing the scene. A warrant was issued for the arrest of Montreal Bright, charging him with especially aggravated robbery & vandalism. He was taken into custody on Christmas Day, where he remains jailed in lieu of a $252,000 bond.

| Police received a call for service at 2388 Lebanon Pike in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee regarding an armed robbery with the suspect described as a male black, 6′ tall, 170 lbs, with dreadlocks in a maroon sedan. Officers arrived and secured the scene and spoke with the victim, Michael Crowley. Mr. Crowley explained to call-takers and responding officers that the suspect, Montreal Bright, is an employee at the burger king and had pistol-whipped Mr. Crowley and taken his phone and keys. I met with Mr. Crowley at the hospital where he detailed that the suspect had come into work today yelling and started asking Mr. Crowley “where is my bread?” Mr. Crowley did not know what the suspect was talking about. Mr. Crowley tried to walk away and the suspect attacked Mr. Crowley, striking him with the pistol on his back. Mr. Crowley also added that the suspect confronted him about “talking behind [his] back” to which Mr. Crowley knew nothing about. Mr. Crowley’s LG phone and keys were taken, his phone costs about $270. Mr. Crowley added that his boss informed him that Mr. Bright had left Mr. Crowley’s keys in the parking lot, but he and police were unable to find them. Mr. Crowley’s phone was also broken. Due to not being able to find his car keys, Mr. Crowley’s vehicle was towed to secure it by the vehicle owner. Mr. Crowley described his physical pain at a 10 at the hospital and later was put in a neck brace that he will have to keep on for two weeks. Mr. Crowley reports complete numbness on the right side of his person and is unable to, and has been instructed by his doctor to not try to, turn or move his neck during this time frame due to the concern of further damage. The medical staff advised Mr. Crowley that he was struck in the spinal column and it is swollen and that the swelling of his spinal cord has resulted in the symptoms described above. Per TCA statute, serious bodily injury includes “Protracted loss or substantial impairment of a function of a bodily member, organ, or mental faculty.” Video footage was acquired from the business to show a male black in a dark gray hoodie following Mr. Crowley into the office and forcing him into the office at gunpoint while appearing to order everyone out. He at one point strikes Mr. Crowley with the pistol on his upper back and points the gun at Mr. Crowley’s face. Mr. Crowley attempts to disarm the suspect unsuccessfully before giving up his phone. The suspect can later be seen taking this phone out of his pocket and whipping it to the ground while standing in the kitchen. The phone was later recovered destroyed. A date of birth for the suspect was given by the business as 03/05/1998. A profile was located for Montreal Bright under OCA 588071 who is a male black, over 6’0″, 170 lbs. Mr. Bright was positively identified as the suspect following a photo line-up with the victim and two witnesses with all three selecting him as the gunman who committed violence against Mr. Crowley that day. |
