42-year-old Robert Brodie was found stumbling along the roadway in downtown Nashville Tuesday evening as officers stopped to check on his welfare. Police say it was immediately obvious he was under the influence of a controlled substance and was unable to care for himself. As he was being taken into custody for public intoxication for his own safety, officers located 3.3 grams in total of multiple small packages of crystal methamphetamine, along with $328 in cash. While at booking, he exclaimed that he “didn’t understand why selling meth is a problem.” He repeatedly claimed not to have any more drugs on him; however, a search at booking revealed an additional 2 grams of meth inside his wallet.
Robert W. Brodie was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail on November 1st, charged with schedule II drug possession, public intoxication, and contraband in a penal institution. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $15,050.
