Police say TriStar Centennial Medical Center ICU nurse Julia Naldjian struck and killed a pedestrian on October 27 after leaving the Tin Roof Bar and fled the scene. She was booked on multiple charges overnight, including vehicular homicide. The victim, Amelia Lamping, was visiting with her husband from Ohio. The coupe was crossing the street inside a crosswalk near 22nd Ave North & Charlotte Pike when she was struck and killed by Naldjian, who was driving a luxury Alfa Romeo registered to her husband, Henry Naldjian.
The investigation shows that on October 27th, Julia Naldjian picked up co-worker Kayla King in the B Garage just after 7 p.m. as their shifts ended. The two traveled to the Tin Roof Bar on Demonbreun and drank for the evening. Naldjian dropped King off at her home just before 10 p.m. Minutes later, witness Dorothea Stockell says she was approaching Charlotte Pk. when she witnessed a vehicle come from behind her, pass her on the right, and strike one of the two people in the crosswalk ahead. She reported the vehicle fled the scene, continuing Eastbound.
Amelia Lamping, 61, was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. A CrimeStoppers tip led to Naldjian’s vehicle, which had been abandoned with her work badge remaining inside. After cell phone records and other results returned in the investigation, warrants for her arrest were signed on January 27, and she was booked into custody on February 2.
Julia L. Naldjian is charged with vehicular homicide, failure to file a report, failure to comply, failure to render assistance, and leaving the scene of an accident with death. A judicial commissioner set her bond at $55,000.
