Coach Shipley fails to appear in court for using phone while driving in snow

36-year-old Basketball coach Kyle Brandon Shipley was using his phone while driving down I-24 West in snowy road conditions on December 26th, 2022. Officers observed this, conducted a traffic stop, and then cited him for the incident. Shipley failed to appear in court for the citation on March 31st, 2023. Shipley was booked on the citation of driving while using a cell phone on March 23rd, 2024.

Myrone Sanders shoots revolver on Briley Parkway, hides gun in hotel room

41-year-old Myrone Myers Sanders was taken into custody for being a felon in possession of a handgun on March 20th. Officers were dispatched to Briley Parkway and the I-40 East exit ramp regarding a call saying that shots had been fired. Officers located an involved vehicle at Extended Stay America on Elm Hill Pike, matching a description given by another party. The caller stated that the car had 4-5 bullet holes in it. Detectives watched nearby security camera footage to determine where the vehicle occupants could have gone, leading them to their hotel room. The resident permitted officers to search the room, where they located Sanders and Cynthia McDonald, a witness.  Officers detained them, continued searching the room, and found a loaded Smith and Wesson Revolver with one spent shell casing under the stove. McDonald told officers that Sanders fired one shot from the revolver, and then they drove back to the hotel, where he had put the gun under the stove. Officers ran Sanders’ identification and were notified that he was a felon in Tennessee out of Shelby County. Sanders was then taken into custody and charged with felony weapon possession.

Alexis Dean booked after failing to appear in court for driving while using his cellphone

20-year-old Alexis Dean was booked on a citation for driving without utilizing a hands-free device. Police observed Dean driving a white Nissan Altima on I-440 while holding a cell phone in his right hand on August 4th, 2023. Dean was cited for the incident that day. Dean failed to appear in court for the citation on December 15th, 2023. Dean was booked on the citation on March 15th.

Abby Howland assaults sister, bites her several times during argument

24-year-old Abby Howland was involved in an altercation with her sister, Alisha Howland, at their Dellway Drive residence on March 22nd. Officers arrived at the mentioned location and made contact with Alisha. Alisha told officers she had an argument with Abby that led to a fight. Alisha went on to say that while they were fighting, Abby bit her several times and pulled her hair out. Officers observed scratch marks all over Alisha’s body and several bite marks that were bleeding.

Shortly after, officers contacted Abby, who stated that she only argued with Alisha because Alisha said she was “the glue that held their family together.” Abby also noted that Alisha hit her first and pulled her hair out as well. Officers observed that Abby had multiple bruises, scratches, and some clear indications of her hair being pulled out. During the investigation, officers spoke with a neighbor of the sisters, Morgan Lewis. He said the sister’s altercation woke him up, so he investigated. Lewis informed law enforcement that he saw Abby on top of Alisha fighting. Lewis advised that he didn’t know who started the fight. Officers could not determine a primary aggressor. Abby Howland and Alisha Howland were taken into custody and charged with domestic assault.

DUI: Charles Hendricks drives Chevy Malibu after taking Cocaine with 2-year-old son in the car

49-year-old Charles Williams Hendricks drove his black Chevy Malibu without headlights, traveling northbound on Gallatin Pike South in the early hours of March 23rd. Police observed this and followed Hendricks as he got into the left lane to turn onto Old Hickory Boulevard West. When officers got behind Hendricks, he changed lanes as if he were trying to avoid them. This prompted officers to conduct a traffic stop near Gallatin Pike North and Williams Avenue. Officers approached the driver’s side and noticed Hendricks seemed disoriented and showed multiple signs of impairment. When officers asked him about the plastic wrapper he had stuffed in his door handle, he quickly grabbed it and tried to hide it in his center console. Police then requested an ARIDE-certified officer to assist with the traffic stop, during which Hendricks had several mood swings, where he went from angry to laughing to crying to being sleepy. Hendricks consented to sobriety tests and performed poorly, nearly falling asleep while standing up. Hendricks then refused to provide a sample after being informed of implied consent, so officers took him for a mandatory blood draw. Hendricks was found to have a gram of cocaine in a wadded-up dollar bill in his right shoe as well as his two-year-old son sitting in an unsecured car seat. Additionally, officers found a straw with drug residue in his car. Hendricks was taken into custody for driving under the influence, simple possession, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, child endangerment, and implied consent.

Holden Parker caught with 6 grams of Meth after man overdoses on Rosa Parks Avenue

27-year-old Holden Wendt Parker, a Full Stack Salesforce Developer, was in the passenger seat when officers responded to a call regarding a man lying in the roadway near James Robertson Parkway and Rosa Parks Avenue on the night of March 22nd. When officers arrived, they located the unresponsive male and administered him Narcan. Officers observed Parker parked in his vehicle near the incident, approached him, and noticed he had white residue around his nose as if he had just taken a substance, exhibiting signs of impairment. Parker refused medical attention and then was detained due to his level of intoxication. Since his car was being left in a private lot, officers did an inventory search. Officers located six grams of Methamphetamine, a black pipe next to fentanyl test strips, dollars, a scale, and multiple small bags, all of which had residue on them. Then, the other person with Parker admitted to taking an opioid. Parker was taken into custody for three counts of unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, public intoxication, possession of fentanyl with intent, and possession of Schedule II drugs with intent.

DUI: Taylor Brame jailed after driving suspiciously around neighborhood

40-year-old Taylor Renai Brame drove suspiciously around the neighborhood near Santeelah Way and Calderwood around 10:27 p.m. on March 22nd. When officers arrived, they were flagged down by the complainant, adding that the black SUV had been following him and that he had seen multiple juveniles flee from it. The caller then drove officers to where he had last seen the truck, where officers observed it driving slowly on Stecoah Court and Calderwood Drive. Also, four juveniles were walking in the street near the SUV, so detectives activated their sirens to conduct a traffic stop, which was when they returned to the SUV. When officers approached the driver’s side, they noticed Brame showing multiple signs of impairment and asked her where she had just come from. Brame told them she had just left a sporting event with the juveniles. After this, officers asked Brame to step out of the vehicle, and once she exited, officers noticed she reeked of alcohol. Brame then refused to answer if she would take sobriety tests. Brame consented to a blood draw after being explained implied consent and was taken into custody for driving under the influence.

Florida Tourist Christopher Wolverton booked after refusing to leave The Palm

38-year-old Florida Tourist Christopher Gerald Wolverton refused to leave The Palm inside the Hilton on 5th Avenue South late March 22nd. Security at the restaurant flagged officers down and advised them of the incident. When the officers arrived, they de-escalated the situation and walked Wolverton and his friend away from the property. Officers warned him that he was not welcome back at the location and would be arrested if he returned. Shortly after, Wolverton walked back into The Palm, asking to be served, so security alerted the authorities again. Wolverton was then taken into custody for criminal trespassing.

Xavier Reed punctures tires of sister’s boyfriend’s car, tells police he had to “Defend his sister”

19-year-old Xavier James Reed had an incident with his sister’s boyfriend, Travis Kenard Dawson, at their Bell Road residence in the early hours of March 22nd. Reed, his sister, and Dawson live together in the same house. Around 5:02 p.m., Dawson called 911, and when officers arrived, he stated that Reed had damaged his 2023 white Toyota Camry. Dawson also advised that the altercation was recorded on their doorbell camera. The footage shows Reed in a yellow hoodie exiting the house at 8:29 a.m., he then approached the Camry and punctured his front tire with an unknown object, causing $200 worth of damage. Officers spoke with Reed, and he admitted to puncturing the tire. Reed added that he has lived with Dawson for about two years and damaged his Camry to “defend his sister.” Reed was taken into custody for vandalism.
