Local DJ Deer Emerson drunkenly assaults multiple people with rocks at Night We Met nightclub

33-year-old local DJ Deer Emerson was involved in a domestic altercation with her girlfriend, Beronica Crosby, at the Night We Met nightclub on 12th Avenue North on March 31st. When officers arrived at the location, they came into contact with Emerson, who was blatantly intoxicated and holding a rock in each hand. Witnesses at the scene state that Emerson was aggressive and tried to hit people with rocks. Emerson attempted to run away from officers but fell after a short distance. One of the witnesses, Walter Blackman, informed officers that he saw Emerson punch Crosby in the head while they were in front of the bar.

A security guard, Victor Hatcher, told officers he received a call regarding the altercation. Hatcher stated that he observed Emerson attempting to hit Crosby after getting aggressive with her in the parking lot. Before Emerson could land the hit, Hatcher held her down. Emerson retaliated by kicking Hatcher multiple times and attempting to strike him with a rock. During the scuffle, Emerson bit Hatcher on the arm. Officers contacted Crosby, who did not want to answer any questions. Crosby also appeared intoxicated and ended up leaving the scene before the investigation was over. Crosby didn’t have any visible injuries, but she seemed to have been in a physical altercation. Emerson was taken into custody, where she was actively resistant and refused to get into the police car. During a search of her person, a small baggie of suspected powder cocaine was found in her pocket. Deer Emerson was then transported and charged with assault of an officer, domestic assault, possession or causal exchange, public intoxication, resisting arrest, and two counts of aggravated assault.

Christopher Grace drunkenly strangles, spits on intimate partner during argument about Airbnb

46-year-old Christopher Grace was involved in a domestic altercation with his intimate partner, Christal McDowell, at their Village 21 Airbnb on March 31st. When officers arrived at the mentioned location, they contacted McDowell, who stated that she and Grace had argued about their bedroom in the Airbnb. At some point during the argument, Grace pushed McDowell onto the bed and proceeded to mount and strangle her. While strangling McDowell, Grace got close to her face and spat on her. McDowell bit Grace’s lip to protect herself, causing him to disengage.

While speaking to McDowell, officers observed visible bruises on her legs, redness on her chest, and blood on her lip. The officers then spoke with McDowell’s 18-year-old son, who witnessed the incident. He stated that he heard loud arguing, causing him to enter their bedroom. When he entered, he observed Grace strangling his mother and said that he could hear a gurgling sound coming from her. During the investigation, officers found blood on the bed pillow as well as the sheets. When officers questioned Grace, he said that he and McDowell got into an argument that resulted in him being on top of her. Grace stated that he never assaulted or strangled McDowell. Grace, while speaking to officers, appeared to be intoxicated. Christopher Grace was taken into custody and charged with domestic assault.

Patient goes wild at Centennial Hospital: Kristian Overton puts doctor in “chokehold”

21-year-old Kristian Overton had an altercation with a doctor in the emergency room, Daniel James Morris, at Centennial Hospital in the early hours of March 30th. When officers arrived, they spoke with Morris, who stated that Overton was admitted for a medical-related incident and was highly intoxicated. While Morris was treating Overton, he was uncooperative, ignoring orders to remain in bed. Shortly after, Overton told hospital staff he needed to use the restroom, or he would go all over the room. Hospital staff assisted Overton to the bathroom, during which he became verbally combative. Overton began threatening staff and “squirming” on the ground. Morris and other staff members then tried helping Overton back to his bed. Overton started to fight with staff, prompting them to carry him to his room. During the scuffle, Morris stated that Overton placed his arm around his neck, trying to “choke” him, and after he broke free, staff placed Overton in the bed. While they were placing Overton down, he bit Morris on top of his right hand, leaving a visible wound. Several hospital employees advised officers that they witnessed Overton put Dr. Morris in a “chokehold” and bite him. Morris wished to prosecute for the assault. Overton was taken into custody for aggravated assault on March 30th.

Shannon Ellison threatens sister with knife after argument over ex-boyfriend

24-year-old Shannon Ellison had an altercation with her sister, Keyondra Ellison, at their Skyline Road residence on March 29th. Officers deemed the scene safe when they arrived, separated them, and called the medics. Then, they spoke with Shannon, who advised she and Keyondra argued over her ex-boyfriend, adding she heard she had sexual relations with him. She said she confronted her and Keyondra denied the claims. Shannon said the dispute became physical and admitted to hitting her sister first. The officers asked Ellison about a knife, which she denied having, telling them that Keyondra cut herself on broken glass. When officers spoke with Keyondra, she stated Shannon retrieved a knife from the kitchen during their argument and came after her with it, leaving a cut on her forearm. Keyondra was then transported to the hospital. The police talked to two witnesses at the scene who informed them that Keyondra was sitting on a recliner during their dispute and that Shannon hit her first before the scuffle moved into the connecting dining room where she got a knife from the kitchen and went after Keyondra, until their mother broke it up. Officers deemed Shannon Ellison as the primary aggressor and then she was taken into custody for aggravated assault.  

Parker Glenn grabs officer’s gun during takedown

20-year-old Parker James Glenn tried to grab Officer Cheyenne Taylor’s gun during an altercation in his apartment at The Arbours of Hermitage late April 1st. Glenn had four outstanding warrants for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, so officers went to his unit to conduct a warrant service. When they arrived, his mother answered the door and told them she would bring Glenn to the door. He came to the door and opened it about 4-5 inches. The officers then asked Glenn to step outside, but he refused and slammed the door, smashing Officer Foote’s finger and leaving it bruised and swollen. The door also hit Officer Taylor in the nose, causing it to bleed. Then, officers forced entry to apprehend him, during which he ran into his bedroom and became resistive. While he resisted, he reached for Officer Taylor’s gun, and he was detained. Glenn was taken into custody for evading arrest, resisting arrest, two counts of assaulting an officer, and four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Leigh Kilgore strangles daughter with one hand, hits her with other during argument

47-year-old Leigh Kilgore was involved in an altercation with her daughter, Kennady Watwood, at their Woodspring Suites room on March 30th. Officers arrived at their room and made contact with Watwood. Watwood told officers that Kilgore stormed into the room and started insulting her, saying that she needed to leave. Kilgore threw Watwood’s boyfriend’s laptop across the room and started yelling at him. During the argument, Kilgore put her finger in his face, leading to Watwood getting in the middle of them. Once that happened, Kilgore used one hand to strangle Watwood and used the other hand to hit her. Watwood’s boyfriend separated the two before Kilgore could land a punch. He was also able to provide officers with pictures of bruising around Watwood’s neck. Leigh Kilgore was taken into custody and charged with aggravated domestic assault.

Devon McClain shoots gun when group of individuals threaten his friend

21-year-old Devon McClain fired his gun into the air near the Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge late March 30th. McClain spoke to detectives as they arrived and advised them that he and his friend were riding scooters when a group of individuals started “talking smack” to them while they drove by. McClain said they drove off, and when they returned, one of the individuals looked at his friend, saying, “Oh, you were talking shit?” An argument ensued between them, during which the group of individuals began running toward his friend, throwing punches at him. This prompted McClain to draw his pistol from his waistband and shoot in the air. Central Precinct Supervisors pulled video footage of the incident confirming McClain’s statement. Officers contacted one of the victims at the Shell Gas Station on Shelby Avenue, who provided a pinpoint description of the events. McClain admitted to firing his gun, so officers detained him, and he was taken into custody for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Mena Sous bites mother’s face during Schizophrenic episode

40-year-old Mena Sous had a mental health crisis at his London Court residence on March 23rd. Darahim Bakheet Hanna, his mother, alerted the authorities, advising that he has bipolar schizophrenia and had been aggressive. She added that he had a schizophrenic episode and attacked her. Hanna said she tried calming Sous down when he placed his hands around her neck and started squeezing. Then, Sous bit her on the face and covered her mouth with his hands. Hanna sustained bruising around her neck, her face, and lips. Officers spoke with Sous, who stated that his mother was a liar and that he was a good man. Sous added that Hanna was yelling at him, so he walked away. Sous said that his mother is always causing him problems and lying. Officers then spoke with Hanna’s cousin, who informed them that Sous has schizophrenia but does not get treatment, so he gets aggressive with her. Hanna did not wish to prosecute. Sous was taken into custody for strangulation and domestic assault.

Brandon Ramirez threatens step-siblings with gun during family argument

19-year-old Brandon Ramirez was seen threatening his step-siblings at his father’s Sunshine Court residence on March 25th. When officers arrived at the mentioned location, they contacted Ramirez’s step-siblings. They stated that their stepfather was arguing with their mother, and he started to get aggressive. In fear for their mother’s safety, they began to throw punches at their stepfather. Ramierez, seeing this, went upstairs and returned with a pistol. After pointing the gun at his step-siblings, he told them to get out of the house. Later, officers made contact with Ramirez’s father. He stated that he and his wife got into an argument, and her children got involved. Ramirez’s father added that his stepkids were attempting to assault him. While dealing with that situation, he saw Ramirez making his way upstairs. Once Ramirez was back downstairs, he pointed the pistol at his step-siblings and told them to get out. Shortly after, officers made contact with Ramirez. Ramirez stated that he saw his step-siblings getting aggressive with his father, who was talking about kicking them and their mom out. His step-siblings began to assault his father, so he went upstairs and grabbed his gun. Ramirez came downstairs, started banging the gun on the wall, and told them to leave. He also informed law enforcement that the pistol was not loaded and that he only grabbed it to scare them. However, Brandon Ramirez was still taken into custody and charged with two counts of aggravated assault.

Jose Romero threatens man who owes him $3,000 with knife, demands they go to bank

24-year-old Jose Romero had an altercation with Nicolas Garcia-Perez at his Tusculum Road residence late March 23rd. Garcia-Perez spoke with officers when they arrived, advising that he owed Romero $3,000. Garcia-Perez advised that Romero showed up at his house with his girlfriend and mother and started to be verbally aggressive with him. Romero said he wanted Garcia-Perez to pay the money he owed him. Romero then pulled out a knife, demanding Garcia-Perez take him to the bank to get the money. Officers spoke with a witness, who stated they observed Romero pulling out the knife and throwing it in the back of Garcia-Perez’s car when he heard that the police were on the way. Garcia-Perez told them where it was, and officers found the 8-inch kitchen knife. Romero was taken into custody for aggravated assault on March 24th.
