Firefighter Travis Keown assaults wife for walking too slow after Lainey Wilson concert, tells police “I would never hit my wife”

37-year-old Bowling Green Firefighter Travis Keown was involved in a domestic altercation with his wife, Shannon Keown, while at the Grand Ole Opry on Opryland Drive on August 14th. When officers arrived, they spoke with Shannon, who claimed she and Travis were leaving the Laney Wilson concert. As they left, they started walking back to their ride, but Travis became upset because she was walking slowly. Shannon informed officers that Travis then slapped her right arm, which caused an injury that officers observed. Officers then spoke with Travis, who told officers under Miranda that he did not slap her, as well as stated, “I would never hit my wife.” He also said that he did not recall what happened. Travis was then deemed the primary aggressor, and she was taken into custody for domestic assault on August 15th.

McKenzie Hurgate booked after killing turkey while using cracked corn as bait

32-year-old McKenzie Vincent Hurgate, a Ramsay Solutions employee, killed a turkey with the aid of cracked corn at his Charlotte Pike residence on April 13th. TWRA officers observed that Hurgate checked in a turkey and did not have a valid license. Then, after interviewing Hurgate, officers concluded that he killed the turkey on his property. Hence, they allowed him to claim landowner exemption to fix the hunting without a license issue. However, Hurgate used bait as an aid, which is illegal in Tennessee. He was then cited for the occurrence that day. Hurgate was later booked on the citation of hunting with aid bait on July 22nd.

Joseph Cunningham booked after killing 13-point buck without license in 2023

47-year-old Joseph Cunningham hunted a 13-point buck on October 21st, 2023, in Davidson County. Cunningham checked in the deer as a landowner in Giles County but did not qualify for the landowner exemption. Cunningham killed the deer without a valid license and committed a tagging violation by falsifying the county in which the deer was originally harvested. Authorities cited him for the violation, and then he was booked on the citation of illegal taking and possession and destruction of wildlife on July 22nd, 2024.

DUI: Niki Branner jailed after nearly crashing into officer’s car on Briley Parkway

28-year-old Niki Branner was seen almost crashing into an officer’s car on Briley Parkway on June 23rd. Officers observed a black Jeep Grand Cherokee speed past them and immediately slowed down. Officers continued to drive, but as they approached the vehicle in the left lane, it came into their lane, almost hitting them. Officers conducted a traffic stop and approached Branner’s vehicle. As authorities interacted with Branner, they noticed a bag of marijuana. Officers asked Branner if she had smoked that day. Branner admitted that she had smoked 1-2 blunts before she started driving. Officers then asked her if she had any alcoholic beverages before driving. Branner told officers that she did not have any. Branner told officers that she had a gun belonging to her child’s father, so she was asked to exit her car. Officers then took the suspected bag of marijuana and the weapon. Branner agreed to perform sobriety tests, but she performed poorly on the tests, showing numerous indicators of intoxication. After searching the vehicle, officers found an open plastic cup containing an alcoholic drink. Branner was taken into custody for possession of a weapon under the influence, possession of a controlled substance, having an open container of alcohol, driving under the influence, and implied consent on June 24th.

Nicholas Bahe charged with BUI after sunset on Percy Priest Lake

40-year-old Nicholas Bahe was reportedly operating a vessel on Percy Priest Lake on May 31st after sunset without the proper anchor light and with obscured navigational lights. According to TWRA Officer Clay Hetland, he observed this and activated his emergency equipment, stopping the vessel. He interviewed Bahe about the violations and observed the smell of alcohol coming from Bahe, who admitted to drinking while on the lake. Bahe performed poorly on field sobriety testing while aboard the TWRA vessel and was transported to booking after a stop at Summit Medical Center for a blood draw. Bahe was taken into custody for boating under the influence and a boating violation on June 1st.

BUI: Sean Brylow tells police he drank “probably 7 beers” before driving boat on Percy Priest Lake

27-year-old Sean Brylow was observed operating a vessel that did not display its registration on Percy Priest Lake in the evening hours of May 25th. Officers observed this and approached the boat, where they spoke with the driver, Brylow, who showed reeked of alcohol and showed signs of impairment. Brylow then admitted to drinking “a decent amount,” and later clarified that it was “probably 7 beers.” Officers had him board their vessel to take sobriety tests, during which he performed poorly. After being read implied consent, he agreed to provide a chemical sample. Brylow was taken into custody for boating under the influence.

Jay Dubowsky caught hunting without license at Percy Priest WMA

33-year-old Jay Michael Dubowsky hunted at Percy Priest WMA without a hunting license on December 10th, 2023. TWRA agents observed this and were notified of a previous incident where Dubowsky killed a male deer without a permit in November 2023. They seized a deer rack as evidence and cited Dubowsky for the violation. Dubowsky was booked on the citations for illegally taking wildlife and hunting without a license on March 1st.

Dakota Cole charged with BUI on Percy Priest Lake

21-year-old Dakota Cole was operating a boat at the Percy Priest Reservoir Saturday night when TWRA Officer Clayton Hetland observed a passenger on the board standing above the gunwales while the boat was underway. Cole reportedly reeked of alcohol and admitted to drinking while operating the boat. When asked to display the required safety equipment, such as a throw cushion, Cole presented a first aid kit. He performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was taken into custody.

81-year-old Daniel Neyrete charged with BUI on Percy Priest Lake

81-year-old Daniel Neyrete was on a boat with a child under the age of twelve and told police that he had been drinking. MNPD officers were patrolling J. Percy Priest Reservoir around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday when they saw Daniel’s boat with no anchor light displayed. The officer stopped the vessel and saw a child without a safety vest on. When they spoke to Daniel, they said he smelled strongly of alcohol, and he admitted to drinking. Daniel performed sobriety tests on the officer’s vessel and showed several indicators of intoxication. He refused to give a blood sample and was arrested for boating under the influence.

Austin Rivera booked on outstanding citations for jet skiing after sunset on Percy Priest Lake

In June of 2021, 24-year-old Austin Rivera was issued boating violation citations on Percy Priest Lake for operating a jet ski after sunset and towing two individuals on a tube after sunset. He was scheduled to appear to self-book on the citations a few weeks later but never appeared. Eventually, he was taken into custody on the outstanding criminal charges this week in Nashville.
