DUI: Alexander Popko drives in wrong direction down Ellington Parkway to get to hotel

30-year-old Alexander Kamilus Popko was driving in the wrong direction near Ellington Parkway and Hart Lane in the early hours of April 21st. When officers arrived, they noticed a truck facing southbound in the northbound lanes on the left shoulder, so they approached it, where they located Popko, who told them he was trying to get to his hotel. He told officers he had consumed alcohol, which they could smell, so they prompted him with sobriety tests. Popko performed poorly, telling them he was too drunk to take the tests. He then refused to provide a chemical sample and was taken into custody for driving under the influence and an implied consent violation.

DUI: Dorian Battle falls asleep behind the wheel in the middle of interstate traffic

23-year-old Dorian Battle says he had “two shots of tequila” and Luke’s bar in Nashville shortly before he was found asleep behind the wheel of his vehicle in an active lane of travel on Interstate 40E near exit 212 early Saturday morning. When officers attempted to wake Battle from his slumber, he drove away from the scene. Officers followed him until he stopped on Fessler’s Lane just before Elm Hill Pike. He performed poorly on some field sobriety tests and later blew a 0.095% BAC on a breathalyzer.

DUI: Musician Matthew Hugg crashes along three floors of parking garage

An off-duty detective with Metro Nashville Police observed 21-year-old Matthew Hugg strike the gate to the parking garage at 9 City Place late Saturday night and several pillars and parked cars within the garage. Officers made contact with Hugg, who reeked of alcohol, and observed heavy damage to both the front and rear of the vehicle. Inside the second story of the garage, officers located his bumper, headlines, a wiring harness, and paint chips strewn along the driving path. It appeared he struck several pillars before reaching the gate. Hugg performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was transported to booking, charged with DUI.
