DUI: Angel Gomez unable to tell officers why he crashed his car

27-year-old Angel Gomez had a single-vehicle accident on Una Antioch Pike in the early hours of  March 17th. Upon arrival, officers spoke with Gomez and he admitted to consuming alcohol before driving. Officers noticed he reeked of alcohol and could not account for his whereabouts or what caused the crash. Gomez was then cited for the incident that day. Gomez failed to appear in court or pay the fines before April 9th and was booked on the citation of driving under the influence on April 15th.

DUI: Ronnie Massey hits bus with juveniles on board after having “A couple” drinks

62-year-old Ronnie Massey was involved in a car crash at the intersection of Old Lebanon Dirt Road and Old Hickory Boulevard on April 16th. Driving in a 1985 Chevy Monte Carlo, Massey struck a Prevost Passenger Bus containing thirteen juveniles and two adults. Officers made contact with Massey and noticed a strong odor of alcohol as they approached him. Officers asked Massey, who appeared intoxicated if he had been drinking, and he replied, “A couple.” When asked how many a couple was, Massey responded, “two.” Massey consented to sobriety tests and performed poorly. Ronnie Massey was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence on April 17th.

DUI: Mohamed Hajinur falls asleep behind the wheel after drinking Voodoo Ranger IPA

26-year-old Mohamed Sadeek Hajinur was sleeping in the driver’s seat of his white Toyota Camry at the BNA Cell Phone Waiting Lot on Murfreesboro Pike in the early hours of April 14th. A security guard observed this and alerted the authorities, who arrived and noticed an open Voodoo Ranger IPA beer in Hajinur’s center console before knocking on his window to wake him up. After officers told Hajinur several times to roll the window down, he did and then started his car, so they told him to turn it off and hand them the keys. When they asked him how much he had to drink, he repeated that the beer in the console was the only one he consumed. Hajinur consented to sobriety tests, during which he kept stopping and disregarding the instructions. He then agreed to provide a chemical sample after being read implied consent and was taken into custody for driving under the influence.

DUI: Lord Amedzo drinks 2 shots of whiskey before crashing his car on I-65

30-year-old Lord Amedzo had a single-vehicle accident on I-65 in the early hours of April 14th. Upon arrival, officers located Amedzo in the driver’s seat and noticed he reeked of alcohol as he stepped out of his car. Officers asked if he had anything to drink, to which he replied, “Yes, I have.” Amedzo consented to sobriety tests, performed poorly, and agreed to provide a breath sample. Amedzo then blew a breath sample of 0.088 BAC%. Under Miranda, he told officers that he had two shots of whiskey while at the bar. Amedzo was taken into custody for driving under the influence.

DUI: Brandon Parsons walks away from accident after drinking 7 beers, tells police “he crashed”

37-year-old Massage Therapist Brandon Parsons was involved in a car crash at Hillsboro Pike on April 9th. Parsons was located walking away from the crash and did not attempt to contact law enforcement. When officers met with Parsons, he told them that “he crashed” and was trying to get home. Parsons admitted that he drank seven draft beers and then drove in his car. Parsons consented to sobriety tests and performed poorly. Officers informed Parsons about implied consent, but he refused to provide a breath sample. Brandon Parsons was taken into custody and charged with implied consent, driving under the influence, and leaving the scene of an accident.

DUI: Terry Briskey swerves between lanes nearly striking telephone pole

59-year-old Terry Lynn Briskey swerved in his white Nissan Rogue and hit a concrete barrier on North Main Street late April 5th. Briskey crossed back over two traffic lanes, nearly striking a telephone pole as well as another vehicle. Officers observed this and conducted a traffic stop, where he continued driving and slowly drifted into the southbound lane. Then, officers pulled next to Briskey and noticed he was lying across the center console, appearing to be unconscious. Officers parked in front of his Nissan to ensure his safety, during which he sat up and looked at them. While Briskey tried to park his car and turn the radio down, he showed numerous signs of impairment. After he parked, officers noticed Briskey reeked of alcohol and removed him from the driver’s seat, where he admitted to having a drink an hour before the incident. Officers informed him of implied consent, and he agreed to provide a blood sample. After Briskey was transported to Nashville General Hospital, he was taken into custody for driving under the influence.

DUI: Lowell Beushausen III rear-ends vehicle in parking lot after blowing .192% BAC

55-year-old Lowell Kendall Beushausen III had a car accident in the parking lot across from Barstool Nashville on April 7th. EMS personnel flagged officers down regarding the crash, advising them that Beushausen appeared to be intoxicated. When officers arrived, they observed him in the driver’s seat with an unidentified male passenger, who showed signs of impairment. Officers spoke with the other driver involved, Hadi Zabi. Zabi told them that Beushausen struck the rear end of his parked vehicle while he and his two children sat inside. When officers spoke with Beushausen, he reeked of alcohol and admitted to having 6 or 7 beers as well as a fully loaded .40 caliber H&K handgun in his center console. Officers then secured and inventoried the handgun for evidence. Beushausen III consented to sobriety tests, performed poorly, and agreed to provide a blood sample, resulting in 0.192 BAC%. Beushausen was taken into custody for driving under the influence and possession of a weapon while under the influence.

DUI: Grisell Pirela speeds, swerves between lanes on I-24 East

38-year-old Grisell Pirela was swerving and speeding on I-24 East in the early hours of April 6th. Officers observed this and conducted a traffic stop. Officers approached the passenger’s side, spoke with Pirela, and requested her driver’s credentials. While she searched for her documents, officers noticed a strong alcoholic odor on her person. Officers then asked Pirela if she had anything to drink, to which she replied yes. They had her exit her vehicle and walk to the front of their patrol car, where she showed multiple signs of intoxication. Then, Pirela advised officers that she had a metal rod in her left leg and had been recently diagnosed with vertigo. Pirela took sobriety tests, performed poorly, and, after being informed of implied consent, refused to provide a chemical sample. Pirela was taken into custody for driving under the influence and implied consent.  

DUI: Brian Cartee attempts to flee after crashing car, tells police he “hates Nashville”

54-year-old Brian Martin Cartee had a car accident near the Assembly Food Hall Parking Garage on 6th Avenue South late April 7th. When the police arrived, they spoke with Preston Craig Todd, an APS security employee. Todd stated that the other driver who was involved flagged him down, saying that Kia had hit her vehicle and fled. Todd said that he observed a Kia on the ramp, where he located Cartee, who showed multiple signs of intoxication. Todd added that Cartee was slow to park his car. Then, officers approached Cartee and noticed he reeked of alcohol and could not stand independently. Officers asked him if he had consumed any alcohol, to which he said he had “2 to 3” drinks. Cartee refused to take sobriety tests or provide a chemical sample after being informed of implied consent. Officers obtained surveillance showing Cartee driving the Kia during the incident and then detained him. On the way to booking, Cartee stated he had just moved to Nashville and that it was his first day here. Then, he said he “hates Nashville and the police,” adding that this is “bullshit” and “wrong” repeatedly. Cartee was taken into custody for driving under the influence and implied consent.

DUI: Justin Bragg crashes car with 11-month-old child, admits to taking THC gummies

32-year-old Justin Tyler Bragg had a car accident with his 11-month-old child on Gallatin Avenue near Carolyn Avenue on April 5th. When officers arrived, they observed him stumbling with his eyes rolling to the back of his head after exiting his vehicle. During questioning, officers had to help him sit down so he would not stumble into traffic, and he threw up multiple times. Bragg handed officers four empty bags that had contained THC/Delta-9 gummies and told them he had taken them the night before. After he was detained, officers searched his vehicle and located seven blue Oxycodone pills. It was later discovered that Bragg had previously been charged and convicted of DUI in November 2020. He was then taken into custody for driving under the influence-2nd offense.
