Man say he stole laptop & phone from church “to do God’s work” — Edward Thompson

When police asked 30-year-old Edward Thompson why he had taken several items, including a laptop and cell phone, from the downtown First Baptist Church on Broadway he told them “That’s my church and I own it”, and continued to explain that he took the items “to do God’s work”. Security footage shows him breaking through a window to access the items inside the church. He was charged with burglary and is free on pre-trial release after just two hours in custody.

The warrant details that he and his boyfriend, Pastor D. Dewayne Nolan Jr. were outside Play Dance Bar Monday night “discussing their relationship” when Ty-Logan allegedly became upset, pushed the pastor, then took off his shirt and punched his lover in the face. He is free on a $2,500 bond
