The individual saw the marked police car and ran to a stationary silver Toyota in the center of Riverbend Drive, with the engine running and the lights cut off. The vehicle’s occupants ditched the car behind the complex and fled on foot. A citizen flagged down officers and pointed toward the building where Brand was located. He was detained, and a bag containing approximately 22 grams of marijuana was found on him. He admitted being in the vehicle but denied being the driver. Inside the vehicle, a well-used window punch was found along with a gun holster, distal scales, and an additional 6 grams of marijuana. Brand’s cell phone was also located inside the vehicle. He told police that two other people were in the car and repeated that he was not the driver. The vehicle owner was contacted, who advised that she did not know either of the defendants and never permitted them to drive her car. Jaymarion Brand was taken into custody and charged with reckless endangerment, possession of burglary tools, unauthorized use of vehicle, possession or casual exchange, drug paraphernalia, and three counts of evading arrest.
