Richard Kintz says he’s not as drunk as he seems; requests stop for Klonopin on way to jail

After hitting a parked trailer on the side of the road, 31-year-old Richard ‘Rick’ Kintz told police he knew it “seemed” as if he was under the influence” but assured them that he absolutely was not. During field sobriety tests, Kintz admitted to drinking “two beers” — the tests eventually had to be stopped for his own safety. Kintz further stated he had taken his prescribed Klonopin in addition to drinking. He was transported to Metro General for a blood draw, however, he refused, demanding his medication. After leaving the hospital and while en route to booking, Kintz stated he was having a medical emergency of anxiety and shortness of breath, so he was once again returned to Metro General, who once again denied giving him any Klonopin. He was medically cleared and booked into jail.
