Metro Nashville Police say 43-year-old Darrow Fowler was acting as a pimp for a woman being trafficked in Nashville. Detectives received reports about the trafficked woman and were able to locate her advertisements on an adult escort website. Officers made contact and agreed to meet at the Comfort Inn Downtown Nashville-Vanderbilt. Officers surveilled the hotel prior to the meeting time and observed Fowler exit the room just before the agreed-upon time to meet. He got into a white SUV that belonged to the victim.
As a detective entered the room, posing as a ‘John’, the woman’s phone rang with the contact name of “Best Friend,” and it was Fowler – police say this is a common tactic for pimps, or ‘promoters’ as they’re now being called. As Fowler attempted to drive away, nearby officers conducted a traffic stop, and he was taken into custody. He had all of her banking cards in his possession.
Metro Nashville Police say 35-year-old Karl Chandler replied to an escort ad that was posted by officers Monday, where he agreed to exchange both money and some cocaine for a sexual act. As he arrived at the agreed-upon location and spoke with the undercover operative posing as a prostitute, he stated he didn’t bring any cash, just the cocaine. An agreement was reached for 1 gram of cocaine in exchange for oral sex, as he tossed the drugs on the bed. As he was taken into custody, officers located 5 additional grabs of hard cocaine and 5.5 grams of powder cocaine.
53-year-old James Earl Palmer responded to an ad on Escort Alligator Monday morning, where he agreed to meet a woman in exchange for pleasure. Once he arrived at the location, he agreed on $80 for 15 minutes and then selected the upgrade package add-on of no condom, which brought the total to $120. He retrieved half from his pocket, handed her the cash, and immediately grabbed the woman, who was an undercover operative, in the buttocks and vagina. Police say there was no consent and charged Palmer with sexual battery and patronizing a prostitute. He is free on a $12,000 bond.
Nashville police conducted a sting operation this week, placing ads online and meeting respondents at a hotel near Elliston Place & 24th Ave North. 33-year-old Kaetlin Blakeman responded to an ad and agreed to have sex with an undercover detective for $250 an hour. As she was taken into custody at the hotel police found heroin in her bra, and it was discovered she was HIV+, which she also admitted in an interview post-arrest. She was charged with felony aggravated prostitution due to her medical status. A commissioner set her bond at $26,000.
Victoria Scott, 23, placed an ad for sex online for $150/hr, and when an MNPD ‘Undercover John’ responded and came to her hotel room, she immediately recognized him from a previous arrest.
