Roy Matlock Jr saves son, Harrison Matlock, from DUI after hit & run crash

Metro Nashville Police say 25-year-old Harrison Matlock drove his silver Lexus Coupe into another vehicle that was stopped at a traffic light on Nolensville pike coming from 440 East late Monday night. Matlock fled the scene and drove toward his residence on Carter Street. The victim, Showan Ibrahim, followed Matlock and pulled in behind him at his apartment complex. They had a brief interaction until the victim stated he was going to contact the police, causing Matlock to flee into his apartment. The victim, who still had Matlock’s ID from the interaction, stated that Matlock appeared extremely intoxicated. Officers arrived and were unable to locate Matlock by that time, but they did locate a phone number for him.

His father, Nashville financial radio host Roy Matlock, Jr., and TerraWealth Founder, answered the phone call and claimed his son feared for his safety, so he picked him up. When they stated his son needed to return to the scene, Roy refused, stating they were not actual police officers. Officers searched the abandoned vehicle and located an open alcoholic beverage in the front and a partial case of alcoholic beverages in the back. Multiple warrants were issued for Matlock’s arrest, and he was booked on them a day later. He was not charged with DUI due to not being on the scene and being rescued by his father, who refused to return him to the scene.
