18-year-old Markese McCutcheon caught with stolen police equipment, tells police “That’s my brother’s firearm”

18-year-old Markese Andrew McCutcheon had a white Altima parked next to Building D near a dead end at Sterling Nashville West Apartments in the early hours of March 20th. Officers patrolled the apartment complex, an active crime area known for people breaking into and stealing vehicles, especially in the early morning. Officers noticed McCutcheon crouched by other parked cars. Officers noticed his Altima was parked to the left of the vehicles but not in a parking spot, and when he stood up, they turned around. When officers turned around, McCutcheon had driven away, so they got behind his Altima. Officers located him walking in front of building D and spoke with him, during which he told them he stayed in that complex. McCutcheon stated that the Altima was his and approached them with his hands in his hoodie pocket. Officers noticed a bulge in his pocket, so they searched and asked him what he had in his pocket, to which he replied, “That’s my brother’s firearm.” Further investigation revealed that the handgun was stolen. During a subsequent search of McCutcheon’s Altima, they found a Cheatham County Sherriff heavy vest and plates. Officers also found a handgun holster, three fully loaded handgun magazines, two knives, .40 caliber ammo, .223 caliber ammo, ear protection, and a seatbelt cutter. Officers were notified that the items were reported stolen by Deputy Salas on February 24th. Additionally, they located a bag of marijuana, scales, and burglary tools in his car. McCutcheon was taken into custody for theft of a firearm, possession of burglary tools, and simple possession.

Morton’s smelled like a good deal — until Stephen Stanton got stuck with the bill

57-year-old Stephen Craig Stanton and three friends walked into Morton’s The Steakhouse on Church Street in downtown Nashville Friday night, enjoyed their dinner, and racked up a bill totaling $1,042.27. Three of the individuals left the location, leaving Stanton behind. When confronted by the dining manager, Stanton advised he would not pay for the bill as he did not have any money. Police responded to the scene and took Stanton into custody for felony theft of services.

Nordstrom employee Jonathan Ramirez Perez charged with $1,600 in return fraud

Security Personnel at Nordstrom at the Mall at Green Hills detained 22-year-old employee Jonathan Ramirez Perez in the security office until police arrived after management discovered he had stolen $1,600 from the store. Officers say security video confirms Perez Perez actually purchased items from the store in the past and, on two recent days, pretended to refund those transactions and refunded the money to his debit card without actually returning the merchandise. The total amount of the fraud was $1,600.

Yasmeen Bibbs charged in employee return-fraud scheme at Champs Sports Rivergate

20-year-old De’Nijha Yasmeen Bibbs is charged with felony theft after police say she stole more than $1,600 from her employer, the Champs Sports store at Rivergate Mall. Manager Michael Mateo and transaction logs and evidence showing Bibbs would scan in various items from the store and process a fake refund, transferring the money to her personal debit card. The thefts began on August 26th, and across five days, she took $1,648.62 in fraudulent return money. Bibbs confessed to the crime after being Mirandized by police.

Man charged in kidnapping & assault of ex-boyfriend after finding him with another man — Darren Thompson

Trent Marsh says he was asleep inside his Donelson apartment, with Trevante Rogers, when his ex-boyfriend, 28-year-old Darren Thompson suddenly appeared inside the bedroom at 1 a.m. on December 21st. Darrent was reportedly yelling and screaming and refused to leave the home, which he never lived at previously. Trent attempted to leave the location to prevent further conflict, however, when he entered his bathroom/walk-in closet area he was followed by Darren, and prevented him from leaving the room. The two grappled and eventually Trent was able to escape with Trevante.

They returned an hour later to find the apartment was ransacked with damage to all the screens and electronics in the home and an iPad that was now missing. It was pinged to Darren’s home, and home security cameras captured the entire incident. Darren Thompson is charged with aggravated burglary, domestic assault, kidnapping, theft, and vandalism. A commissioner set a $61,000 bond, then he was freed on the pre-trial release program by the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office.

Madison Kroger Employees arrested after cashback fraud scheme — Zakkyah Boleyjack & Diane Colt

18-year-old Zakkyah Boleyjack & 37-year-old Diane Colt were both recently booked into the Metro Nashville Jail after having embezzled over $3,400 from a Madison Kroger. The pair initially worked together, where one would log in and create a cashback slip while the other would log in and pull the money. AFter Boleyjack was no longer employed, Colt continued the thefts on her own. In total, Boleyjack pocketed $1,080, while Colt took home $2,380 in cash. Both are charged with felony theft and are free on pre-trial release.

Man holds knife to woman, says “if you come at me or try to touch me I will cut you up”

37-year-old Gregory Dotson was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, vandalism, theft of property, and interference with a 911 call after he told a woman “if you come at me or touch me, I will cut you up” while holding a butcher knife during an argument and then cut her tires and threw a ceramic statue at her back windshield.
