Tyaundrea Hughes assaults Lyft driver during altercation over Lyft ride

21-year-old Tyaundrea Hughes had an altercation with Evelyn Amoo-Ayensu, a Lyft driver, on East Trinity Lane in July 2021. Amoo-Ayensu advised officers that Hughes requested a Lyft, and Evelyn picked her up from Edwin Street to take her to RiverGate Mall. Then, she said Hughes instructed her to drive around traffic and became angry when she refused. Hughes then demanded that she cancel the ride and became angrier when Amoo-Ayensu told her she had to cancel it, so she pulled over to call 911. Hughes struck her in the face while she was calling the authorities. Hughes initially told officers that she did not hit her but then admitted to assaulting her because she did not let her out of the vehicle. She stated that she had ordered a Lyft to go to the mall and forgot something at the house, so she asked her if she could turn around, but she refused. Then she said she asked her to pull the car over and cancel the ride so someone else could pick her up, but she refused, so Hughes hit her. Amoo-Ayensu wished to prosecute, and Hughes was taken into custody for assault on December 18th
