33-year-old Ashley Renee Bishop stole packages from the UPS warehouse on April 5th. Warehouse employees told officers that packages were missing, so they investigated. Bishop was observed on camera having packages in her bag as she walked through the X-ray scanner. Before the officers arrived, security held Bishop in their office. Bishop admitted to stealing the merchandise and then was taken into custody for theft.
19-year-old David Porter rode as a passenger in a blue Dodge Caravan suspected of having individuals shoot their firearms into the air near Joy Circle on December 28th. Officers located the blue Caravan and conducted a traffic stop on Edwin Street. Porter and the other occupants, Isaiah Foster, and Joshua Smith, were asked to exit the vehicle. Under Miranda, Porter claimed the silver Smith and Wesson pistol under his seat belonged to him and admitted to shooting it in the air. He was booked on the citations of disorderly conduct and weapon possession on January 24th.
36-year-old Vincent Davis was jailed on April 1st when police were en route to an unrelated call and ended up driving behind Davis and witnessed him grab his wife, Shanita Humphries, by the neck and shake her head violently. Davis began to rise up out of his seat to yell in her face. Officers performed a traffic stop for a broken taillight and saw dried blood on Shanita’s face. She told police that Davis grabbed her face with both hands and explained the bloody nose was brought on by allergies. She said that he grabbed the back of her head to try to kiss her. Due to police observation Davis was taken into custody and tells police ” I hope someone calls the cops on you when you and your wife are having an argument.”
Jessica Douglas, the now locally famous ‘East Nashville Package Thief’ appeared in court today in front of Judge Melissa Blackburn. She plead guilty to ‘Theft, $1,000 or less’, and was sentenced to ‘Time Served’ which equated to 6 days in jail. Douglas will also have to pay $686.00 in court costs and $150 in restitution. As of 2PM, Douglas’ custody status was updated to indicate she was in the process of being released from custody, and should be free sometime this afternoon. Jessica Douglas, who spent her 30th birthday in jail on Sunday, had a prior conviction locally at Cool Springs Mall in May of 2014. She committed a theft (under $500) from the Macy’s at Cool Springs Galleria, for which she signed a ‘conditional’ guilty plea in August of 2014. Conditions of her conditional guilty plea included 11mo 29day supervised probation, 24 hours of community service, random and regular drug screens, and an order to not trespass onto Macy’s or Cool Springs Galleria property. When video and still images of an East Nashville package theft were released on social media on 10/18, Jessica ‘Jessy’ Douglas immediately knew she was in trouble, as she was the one clearly visible on the video, pretending to use keys to open the door, as if she lived there, then stealing the package at the door, containing $150 of cosmetics.
