30-year-old Hugh Sails was charged with domestic assault after he groped his girlfriend’s buttocks and shoved her to the ground several times because she refused to have sex with him.
On August 14th, officers responded to a domestic violence incident at 656 South 5th Street. Alexandria Williams reported to police that her boyfriend, Hugh Sails, had started an argument with her over events that took place the night before.
She stated that during these events he wanted to have sex and when she refused, he caused a scratch on her buttocks by aggressively grabbing her. Williams further explained that Sails got mad after she returned home from dropping her kids off at their grandmother’s house and started said argument. After Sails pushed Williams to the ground several times, he grabbed her keys out of her hand causing more lacerations. Williams stated that she wanted to prosecute but was not able to leave the apartment. No statements were taken from Sails because he left before the police arrived. However, officers had probable cause to believe an assault occurred based on her story and injuries.
While he was being searched during booking, officers found approximately 0.67 grams of marijuana on his person.
On August 18th, Hugh Sails was arrested and charged with domestic assault and contraband in a penal facility. His total bond was set at $7,000.
