18-year-old Paul Rigby was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after he threatened to kill his father with an aluminum pipe in front of his grandmother, per report.
On March 26th, Paul Rigby threatened to kill his father Paul Rigby Sr. with an aluminum pipe. Paul was becoming increasingly upset while in the home with Paul Sr. and his grandmother, Ann Rigby. Paul has a history of mental illness and according to police, “appeared to be having some sort of mental health episode and/ or under the influence of an unknown substance.” Paul began to get increasingly violent as well and would push Paul Sr. to the ground while threatening to kill him. Paul Sr. and Ann exited the residence as Paul continued to become more volatile.
During this unfortunate episode, Paul came outside the house with the aluminum pipe and started to damage much of the property including the mailbox, the minivan, and the side door of the house. Paul never struck his father but did threaten to harm him with the pipe. Paul also had some minor injuries to his leg that were self-inflicted, according to the affidavit. He was also verbally and physically agitated when officers arrived and attempted to subdue him. Paul was taken into custody and transported to the General Hospital for medical clearance then transported to booking.
Paul Rigby was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His bond was set at $5,000.
