Facebook Marketplace flipper: Woman caught stealing and selling landscaping goods

30-year-old Sarah Scott was charged with two counts of theft of property after stealing a pressure washer and a leaf blower from two separate individuals and then attempted to sell them on Facebook Marketplace.

On April 1st, Brian Nowak informed officers that a leaf blower had been taken from his truck while the man was mowing a lawn. A neighbor observed the woman taking the Red Max Backpack Blower and informed Nowak of the incident. Nowak discovered his leaf blower for sale on Facebook Marketplace shortly thereafter and was able to identify the property as his own due to custom non-factory parts. The seller of the item was Robert Brawley and was noticed to be one of the two parties responsible for the theft, according to eyewitness accounts. The couple fled the scene in an SUV. Brawley was noted to be in possession of a Lincoln Navigator. The man had additionally been selling various items of similarity on the platform.

On April 3rd, law enforcement was informed of a reported theft at St. Joseph’s school in Madison. According to the affidavit, two individuals were observed taking a Honda pressure washer and accessories from a truck belonging to Alan Houston. The estimated value of the property stolen was approximately $1,500, per report. The individuals in question proceeded to vacate the premises in a Lincoln Navigator.

Ten days later, photographs of the suspects were released, disclosing the identity of the two parties as Sarah Scott and Brawley. In addition, Brawley sold a similar pressure washer on Facebook Marketplace on April 8th. Law enforcement determined Scott to be the guilty party throughout both instances and Brawley to be an accomplice.

On July 9th, Sarah Scott was arrested and charged with two counts of theft of property. Her bond was set at $7,500.
