27-year-old Janay Dinkins was charged with DUI after she drank three margaritas, crashed her vehicle, and told officers that she didn’t know where she was or how she got there.
On September 25th, Metro Nashville officers arrived at 200 Wheeler Avenue after a call that a white Mazda wrecked in the front yard of the home. When authorities arrived they found the vehicle running with the lights on and Janay Dinkins slumped over the wheel asleep. Officers opened the vehicle and cut the engine. Dinkins was unresponsive at first but did eventually wake up.
Officers noted the smell of alcohol coming from her person, and she admitted that she had been drinking earlier in the evening. Dinkins told officers that she couldn’t remember when she started drinking, where she was, or how she got there. She told officers that she drank three margaritas at Casa Amigos, and police reported that she repeatedly vomited on herself while being helped to exit her vehicle. Dinkins denied both field sobriety and breathalyzer tests because she believed that she wouldn’t pass. Dinkins repeatedly apologized while being taken to custody.
Janay Dinkins was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Her bond was set at $2,500.
