58-year-old Sonya Bratton and 65-year-old Jacquelyn Stephens were charged with domestic assault when an argument about a cat escalated into a catfight and the responding officer couldn’t determine who started it.

On October 28th, Goodlettsville Police Officer Shane Farrell responded to a domestic assault call at 209 Graves Road. When he arrived, he spoke with Jacquelyn Stephens who stated she and girlfriend Sonya Bratton had been drinking when they began arguing about a cat.

According to the affidavits, Bratton hit Stephens in the face leaving a small cut. Stephens believed that she had been hit with a knife but no evidence supporting that claim was found on the scene. Office Farrell then spoke with Bratton who claimed the verbal altercation escalated when Stephens scratched her, drawing blood. Bratton admitted to striking Stephens, because both parties had conflicting accounts and sustained injuries a primary agressor could not be determined.

Sonya Bratton and Jacquelyn Stephens were both charged with domestic assault. They were each released on a $1,000 bond.
