37-year-old Simone Babis was interfering with police work near The Hilton and Bridgestone Arena on May 4th. Babis saw them speaking with a male juvenile, which upset her because she believed they were profiling him and felt she needed to stand by just in case. She interjected multiple times, asking the young male questions he did not want to answer. Officers told her she needed to back up and that it was none of her business what he was doing. She continued interrupting their investigation, asking if he was in custody and if he wanted her to call his mother, which was when officers requested a supervisor to the scene. When they arrived, they advised Babis to walk away, adding that it was none of her concern as to why he was with the police. She continued to ask, “Is he under arrest?” while ignoring their commands, prompting them to detain her for the incident. Babis was taken into custody for disorderly conduct.
Simone Babis was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail on May 4th, charged with disorderly conduct. A judicial commissioner set her bond at $150, and the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office gave her pre-trial release from their facility.
