75-year-old William Ratcliffe had a domestic incident with his roommate, Cynthia Newsom, and her daughter, Gloria Drake, at their shared South 5th Street residence around 4:40 a.m. on May 6th. When officers arrived, they spoke with Newsom, who stated that Ratcliffe had become agitated during an argument, during which he swung his cane and hit her left ring finger. Then, Ratcliffe raised his cane and threatened Drake, telling her he would smack her in the head, which placed her in fear of bodily harm. Ratcliffe was then taken into custody for two counts of domestic assault on May 6th.
William E Ratcliffe was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail on May 6th, charged with two counts of domestic assault. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $5,000.
