DUI: Mitchell Carter crashes Mustang on I-40 East after drinking “medium amount” of whiskey

27-year-old musician Mitchell “Mitch” Carter crashed his green 2013 Ford Mustang into a metal guardrail on I-40 East near Exit 215A on April 6th. Upon arrival, officers observed the damaged Mustang running with the keys in the ignition while Carter was on a stretcher being loaded into the back of an ambulance. Jeshon Amory, a witness, stated when he approached Carter, he was passed out behind the wheel in the driver’s seat. Officers questioned Carter about the incident, and he said that he “drove to the wrong spot.” Then, when they asked him to clarify, he told them he did not remember. Officers smelled alcohol emitting from Carter’s body as he admitted to drinking a “medium amount.” He further explained he had three shots of whiskey at Whiskey Row. Carter was transported to Summit Hospital for medical treatment, where he agreed to provide a blood sample after being informed of implied consent. Once he was Mirandized, he refused to answer any more questions. He was then released from Summit and transported to Nashville General Hospital for a blood draw. After being cleared, Carter was taken into custody for driving under the influence.
