Woman found asleep at an intersection in the driver’s seat of a stolen vehicle

28-year-old Makayla Milam was charged with theft and driving on a revoked license after she was found asleep at the intersection of Janie Avenue and Murray Place in a vehicle that had been reported stolen.

On October 3rd, Metro Nashville Police officers were dispatched to the intersection of Janie Avenue and Murray Place in reference to someone sleeping in a car at the intersection. Upon arrival, officers observed Makayla Milam in the driver’s seat.

Officers requested to see her driver’s license which she could not provide. Milam proceeded to give them her social security number and advised them she had been awake all day and was tired. When officers ran Milam information through their system her license was discovered to be revoked. Officers also ran the VIN number of the vehicle and the car appeared to be stolen. The owner of the vehicle was contacted and they drove the vehicle home while police were still at the scene.

Makayla Milam was arrested and charged with theft of a motor vehicle and driving on a revoked license. She is currently jailed in lieu of a $4,000 bond.
