27-year-old Carlie Hampton Griffin was the subject of a welfare check in late December on Kentucky Ave in the Nations. During the interaction, Mobile Crisis deemed it necessary to place an involuntary mental health hold on Griffin, though she was still inside her home and refused to come out. She repeatedly opened the door, yelled at the officers and counselors, and then closed and locked it once again. As Officer Higgins attempted to grab her to take her into custody, she bit down on his arm, letting her slip back inside. Eventually, a taser was deployed until she could be handcuffed. Once handcuffed, Carlie Griffin attempted to flee and grabbed Officer Folad’s upper thigh and squeezed it, causing instant pain. Officer Folad also sprained his ankle at some point during the interaction. She was eventually transported to a local hospital, and warrants were issued for her arrest once released. She was booked on those open warrants this weekend.
