DUI: Chad Nicewarner says he’s going to “Lawyer up” after officers couldn’t give him legal advice

45-year-old Chad Stuart Nicewarner was speeding in his white Ford F-250, going 70 mph in a 40-mph-zone on Harding Pike near Jackson Boulevard around 12:15 a.m. on March 30th. Officers observed this, activated their emergency equipment to catch up with him, and conducted a traffic stop. When officers approached the Ford, they noticed Nicewarner reeked of alcohol and appeared confused when questioned about his driver’s credentials. Nicewarner consented to sobriety tests, performed poorly, and then refused implied consent. During which, Nicewarner was advised that officers could not offer him legal advice, so he told them that he was going to “lawyer up.” After this, officers obtained a search warrant for a chemical sample. Stuart was transported to Nashville General Hospital, where two vials of blood were taken, and then he was taken into custody for implied consent and driving under the influence.
