Jose Rodriguez allegedly threatens girlfriend with knife, holds her in room against her will

30-year-old Jose Enrique Gomez Rodriguez was taken into custody for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and false imprisonment on April 16th. At around 5:50 p.m., Emerson Armas called the police, stating that Rodriguez had a knife and was locked inside a room with Emerson’s sister, Karen Armas, who is also Rodriguez’s girlfriend, at their Martin Street residence. When officers arrived, they were let inside and went to the room, demanding Rodriguez to open it, which he complied with after a brief wait. Officers then escorted him to their patrol car and detained him. Afterward, officers spoke with Emerson, who stated he heard his sister arguing with Rodriguez, so he went upstairs to check on her. This is where he saw Rodriguez with a knife, which he pointed at him before closing the door. Then, Karen told officers that Rodriguez had called her when she was at work and had started an argument. When Karen returned home, she went to their room upstairs, where their argument continued. Karen then tried to leave the room, but Rodriguez pushed her aside and locked the door. During the investigation, officers recovered a serrated kitchen knife with a black handle near the bedroom door and turned it into evidence. Under Miranda, Rodriguez admitted hindering Karen from leaving their bedroom and holding the kitchen knife. Rodriguez was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and false imprisonment.
