Around 11 AM on Tuesday, MNPD made a traffic stop on a rental vehicle on S 12th at Shelby, where they would find 2 felons, 1 handgun, & 56 ecstasy / MDMA pills.
Driving the vehicle was Deandre Renaldo Dotson, and riding shotgun was Jonathan Allen Johnson Jr. The vehicle they were driving was stopped for failing to fully stop at the intersection. It was initially found that Dotson’s license was revoked during the traffic stop, and he gave verbal consent to search the rental vehicle.
During the search, officers found 56 ecstasy / MDMA pills and half of a Xanax in a pill bottle under the passenger seat, and a partially smoked blunt in the center console. Also discovered in the glove box, was a loaded hi-point .380 pistol. Neither party claimed ownership of the drugs, however the passenger did claim ownership of the handgun. Both subjects are convicted felons for aggravated robbery. $295 in small denominations was also recovered.
Both are charged with possession x2, possession w/intent – SCH1, and Johnson is additionally charged with being a felon in possession of a handgun. Dotson & Johnson will have court on 04/03/2018, and are free on bond.
