24-year-old Devin Hawes was charged with public intoxication after he “became combative” in a vehicle.

On February 17th, officers were dispatched to the Shell gas station on Hickory Hills Boulevard. When officers arrived they spoke to Devin Hawes’ acquaintances who stated that they were driving home from downtown when Devin became combative in the vehicle. According to the other parties involved, they pulled over at the gas station to try to calm Devin down but to no avail so one of them called the police.

Officers stated that Devin smelled of alcohol, was unsteady on his feet, and could not form coherent sentences. Due to Devin’s level of intoxication, he did not have the ability to care for himself at the time and was taken into custody for his own safety. Devin Hawes was arrested and charged with Public Intoxication. The charge was later dismissed.
