Nashville woman hits child’s father with guitar; charged with domestic assault

20-year-old Nelda Santillan was charged with domestic assault after smacking her child’s father with a plastic guitar because a neighbor was in their residence while she was not there.

On March 24th, police responded to a domestic call on West Winchester that was made by Nelda Santillan. Nelda and Leopoldo Garnica have a child together. Police arrived at their residence and spoke with Leopoldo, who stated that Nelda became verbally aggressive and began arguing because a neighbor was inside of the residence while she was not present.

Leopoldo went on to say that at that point, Nelda grabbed a plastic children’s guitar and hit him in the back as and left elbow. Police observed swelling and fresh cuts on Leopoldo in both areas. After Nelda struck him twice she immediately walked outside and contacted police, according to the affidavit. Police observed Nelda in the driveway holding the broken guitar when they arrived. The guitar was taken in as evidence and Nelda admitted to police that she did strike Leopoldo.

Nelda Santillan was arrested and charged with domestic assault. Her bond was set at $1,500.
