27-year-old Timothy Lewis, 19-year-old Colt Cowart, and 21-year-old Caleb Burgin were charged with multiple crimes after they were reported for breaking into cars and found in possession of Xanax and a loaded gun.

On August 25th, a report was filed with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department for a vehicle burglary at 1818 Church Street. Surveillance footage showed Colt Cowart getting into the car through the front passenger door, turning the cabin light on, and then rummaging through the contents of the vehicle.

On October 20th, MNPD Officers responded to a call about two people breaking into cars around the area of Laurel Street and 11th Avenue South. The officers arrived at 1033 Demonbreun Street, a parking garage where the vehicles were broken into. Upon arrival police took note of two people, both matching the description given in the call, get into a black Nissan Altima.

When the officers conducted a stop of the vehicle they spoke with the owner of the car, Shaquana Jeans, and the driver, Timothy Lewis, who both gave consent to search the car. Police found three pairs of sunglasses, a credit card, and two Tennessee driver’s licenses in the back seat where the self-proclaimed “lookout,” Caleb Burgin, was sitting. They were also able to find Colt Cowart hiding in the trunk of the car with a cocked and loaded Bersa Thunder 45 Ultra Compact. Colt has prior arrests relating to two other vehicle burglaries that took place on October 2nd of 2019, and April 9th of 2020.

Timothy Lewis then told the officers that he had something on him that he should not. While searching his person, the officers found a knife that had a small bag attached to it containing blue pills. The pills were later identified as Xanax.

Timothy Lewis was arrested and charged with accessory after the fact and possession of Xanax. He was later freed on pretrial release.

Colt Cowart was arrested and charged with felony possession of a firearm, attempted burglary of a motor vehicle, and three counts of burglary of a vehicle. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $16,500 bond.
