Police say 32-year-old Cameron Nichols was standing outside his crashed vehicle, which went through a utility pole, when they arrived at Edmonson Pike Saturday night and reeked of alcohol. He explained that he and his wife, Holly Nichols, had been out to dinner, and he consumed two beers and an “old-fashioned” cocktail. His wife had taken an Uber home, but he decided to drive. He provided his credit card when asked for his ID, showed signs of intoxication on all field sobriety tests, and then told officers he had not eaten for “several hours” despite claiming he had just had dinner. Nichols was transported to the Metro Nashville jail, and charged with DUI – driving under the influence. He is free on pre-trial release.

| On 12/11/2021 officers responded to 5963 Edmondson Pike in regard to a motor vehicle accident possibly involving injuries. When officers arrived, they made contact with the defendant who was standing outside of the wrecked vehicle and smelled of alcohol. The defendant stated to officers that he was driving the vehicle and fell asleep causing him to run through the power pole on the shoulder of the road. The defendant stated to officers that he went out to dinner with his wife and had two beers and one “old-fashioned” whiskey beverage. The defendant stated his wife took an uber home, but he wanted to get the family car back home. When officers asked for the defendant’s license, he first handed officers a form of a credit card and was corrected by officers. Officers also noticed the defendant was very unsteady on his feet. Officers conducted field sobriety tests with the defendant who showed multiple signs of inebriation in all tests. The defendant then stated to officers that he had not eaten for several hours and received six to seven hours of sleep the night prior. |
