Jefferson Aleman Herrera assaults brother with knife

30-year-old Jefferson Eleazar Aleman Herrera was involved in a domestic scuffle with his brother, Jonathan Enrique Aleman Herrera, at Turfway Court on the afternoon of November 12th. Claudia Martinez Morales, Jefferson’s girlfriend, spoke with the officers and told them that she and Jefferson had kicked Jonathan out of their house the day before. His girlfriend, Karla Lara Cartagena, came by to collect the rest of his belongings as Martinez advised her that only she could come in, not Jonathan. Jonathan ignored this and pushed his way into the house anyway. He then shoved his brother and punched him multiple times in the face as they fell to the ground. The pair were both transported to the Southern Hills Emergency Room.

Jefferson confirmed Matrinez’s statements, adding that he felt unconscious after Jonathan punched him. He stated that he remembered picking up “something” and swinging it but missing Johnathan. He had visible injuries on his eyebrow and collarbone.

Karla Cartagena, Jonathan’s girlfriend, told officers that Jefferson shoved Jonathan and punched him twice in the face when he stepped into the house. Then, she stated Jefferson picked up a knife, swung it, missed Jonathan, picked up a pan, and then hit him on the head.

Jonathan confirmed Cartagena’s statements, adding that he sustained a cut on his hand from defending himself from the knife. Officers noticed a cut on his hand with dried-up blood around it, two scratches on his midsection, and swelling on his brow.

Both parties were taken into custody for domestic assault.
