Steven Simmons walks into traffic, tells officers an “organization of people are going to kill him”

42-year-old Steven Matthew Simmons believed his vehicle was about to explode while he was driving on Franklin Pike, so he called emergency services in the morning hours of December 9th. Officers arrived and located Simmons at the Shell Station, and he stated that he no longer needed assistance and would call a tow truck to transport his vehicle. Officers returned to service, responding to other calls, when they received two regarding Simmons being erratic in the parking lot, so they located him, and he told officers he believed there was an organization of people after him, possibly trying to kill him. Then, he stated he was about to walk out into traffic in front of cars instead of letting someone else kill him and proceeded to walk into the middle of the roadway, impeding oncoming traffic. Officers commanded him to return to a safe location, but he refused, approached another vehicle, blocked it from going forward, and began yelling at the driver. Officers grabbed his arm to pull him toward safety, but he spun out of their hands and stood in a fighting stance. Simmons was taken into custody for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
