The Tennessee Board of Nursing has disciplined Misty Hoke (LPN) for diverting pain medications from patients at Vantage Point Assisted Living in Ashland City, TN, and being high on the diverted drugs while being the Assistant Executive Director of the facility.

According to a disciplinary action report release today by the state, Misty Hoke was observed slurring her words and displaying “erratic, hyperactive” behavior while at work in September of 2018, on the same day that a patient of the assisted living facility complained to be in a great deal of pain. Records show the medication was withdrawn from the supply stock, but never administered to the patient.

A few days later, another patient complained she had not received her pain medication. An investigation showed that Hoke withdrew the prescribed hydrocodone pills at 8 a.m., 11 a.m., and 3 p.m. that day, but never administrated them to the patient. On this day, Hoke was asked to submit to a blood drug test, which returned positive for Oxycodone and opiates. Hoke claimed she took a “relative’s hydrocodone pill” and claimed she consumed a patient’s Oxycodone pill, after the patient refused it.

Misty Hoke resigned from her employment at Vantage Point in September of 2018, and was offered PnPAP (Tennessee Professional Assistance Program) services in January of 2019, which she did not complete the evaluation for. The state board has now suspended her license to practice nursing. A copy of the order is below.
