Metro Police have charged Kevonte Barnes with aggravated assault with serious bodily injury, after they say he repeatedly punched his mother in the head and face, before he struck her in the head with his foot, rendering her unconscious.
Metro Police responded to a domestic disturbance call on May 24th in Bordeaux just before 9 a.m. Upon arrival, the mother of Kevonte Barnes told police her son had beat and kicked her until she was unconscious. According to the victim, Barnes was upset because her boyfriend had totaled Kevonte’s car while he was in jail.
The victim stated that after a verbal argument she walked into the bathroom to do her hair, and as she entered, Kevonte pushed her down onto the floor, struck her in the head and face repeatedly with a closed fist, and then struck her in the head with her foot. She states she lost consciousness at some point during the attack. She was yelling for someone to call the police, and Kevonte eventually fled the scene on foot. The victim sustained multiple injuries from the incident.
Officers caught up with Kevonte Barnes on May 30th and took him into custody. He is charged with aggravated assault with serious bodily injury. He remains jailed on a $75,000 bond.
